“Congratulations, Jim, on the writing you've done for Cycle Oregon. It’s quick, smart, funny and hip — just what we wanted.” —Jonathan Nicholas, Cycle Oregon founder and former Oregonian columnist

Cycle Oregon
In 2005, this popular annual bike tour of Oregon’s back roads was experiencing flagging registration numbers for the first time. The ride organizers decided one way to address the problem was to create a unified, updated copy voice. They came to Word Jones. Jim has helped create the ride themes and craft all the marketing efforts for each subsequent ride, including print ads, e-mail blasts, newsletters and a new Web site. He even writes and prints the Cycle Oregonian, a newspaper published and given to riders each day on the week-long ride.

Since Word Jones came on, the event’s success has increased incrementally each year. In 2006 ridership increased 20 percent. In 2007 the ride sold out all 2,000+ spots. In 2008 the ride sold out in four weeks. In 2009 it sold out in 12 days. Now that’s measurable progress. (Copy and concepts: Jim Moore/Word Jones. Design and concepts: Steve Sandstrom/Sandstrom Design.)
